Why Sanitizing is Important

Maintaining a clean and safe environment is essential in massage therapy. Proper sanitation protocols protect both clients and therapists from infections and ensure a comfortable, professional experience. Here’s an overview of the sanitation practices followed at our clinic:

1. Hand Hygiene

  • Therapists wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after every session.
  • Use of hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content when washing isn’t immediately possible.
  • Gloves are worn if there are open wounds or skin conditions present.

2. Cleaning and Disinfecting Surfaces

  • Massage tables, chairs, face cradles, and other contact surfaces are wiped down with EPA-approved disinfectants after each client.
  • Frequently touched items (door handles, light switches, counters) are cleaned regularly throughout the day.
  • Linens, including sheets, pillowcases, and towels, are changed between each client and laundered using hot water and detergent.

3. Use of Fresh Linens and Supplies

  • Each client receives fresh sheets, blankets, and face cradle covers.
  • Disposable items like face cradle covers or bolsters may be used for added hygiene.
  • Oils and lotions are dispensed in a way to prevent contamination (e.g., pump bottles, single-use packets).

4. Therapist Personal Hygiene and Attire

  • Therapists wear clean uniforms or clothing daily.
  • Hair is tied back to avoid contact with clients.
  • Nails are trimmed and clean to prevent accidental scratches or contamination.

5. Client Screening and Safety

  • Clients are screened for any contagious illnesses or symptoms before appointments.
  • Sessions may be rescheduled if a client is feeling unwell to prevent spreading illness.
  • Hand sanitizer is available for client use upon entering and leaving the facility.

6. Equipment Maintenance

  • All reusable equipment (like bolsters, straps, tools) are cleaned and disinfected regularly.
  • High-touch equipment is disinfected after every use.

Why Sanitation Matters

Sanitation is not only about cleanliness — it’s about respecting your health and safety. By following strict protocols, we reduce the risk of infections and create a calm, trustworthy space where you can fully relax and focus on your healing.
